Getting There

  • Public Transport

    Start at Lucerne's main train station (Bahnhof Luzern). From the station, walk to the bus terminal located just outside the main entrance. Look for bus number 1, which goes to 'Kriens, Zentrum'. Board the bus and enjoy the ride for about 10 minutes. Get off at the 'Kriens, Zentrum' stop. From there, transfer to the 'Kriens, Sonnenberg' cable car station, which is well-signposted. Take the cable car up to the Sonnenberg. Once you reach the top, follow the signs leading towards 'Rütli' and 'Seelisberg'. The museum is a short walk from the cable car station. The total journey should take around 30-40 minutes.

    If you prefer to walk, you can start from Lucerne's main train station. Head toward the lake (Lake Lucerne) and walk along the promenade in the direction of the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke). Cross the bridge and continue on the lakeside path until you reach the ferry terminal (Schifffahrt). From the ferry terminal, take a ferry to 'Seelisberg'. The ferry ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Seelisberg, follow the signs to Rütli. It’s a pleasant hike from the ferry terminal to the museum, taking approximately 20-25 minutes.
