    Train

    From Lugano, head to the Lugano train station (Stazione di Lugano). You can walk there from the city center in about 10 minutes. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Orta San Giulio. The train journey will take approximately 2 hours. You will need to change trains at the Domodossola station. After arriving at Orta Miasino station, take a local bus (line 12) towards Orta San Giulio. Get off at the last stop, Orta San Giulio. From there, walk to the ferry terminal.

    Bus

    From Lugano, you can take a bus to Orta San Giulio. First, walk to the Lugano bus station, which is located near the train station. Check the SBB website or local bus schedules for the latest routes. You may need to take a bus to Domodossola and then transfer to another bus heading to Orta San Giulio. The total travel time will be around 2.5 to 3 hours depending on connections. Once you arrive in Orta San Giulio, follow the signs towards the waterfront to reach Isola San Giulio.
