Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, start in the center of Solothurn. Head southeast on Hauptgasse toward Murtengasse. Continue onto St. Niklausstrasse, then turn left onto Aarestrasse. Follow the road to the roundabout and take the first exit onto Bielstrasse. After approximately 3 km, you will see signs for Rüttenen. Follow these signs, and after another 2 km, you will arrive at the parking area near the entrance to Verena Gorge. Note that parking is available, but there may be a parking fee. From the parking area, it is a short walk to the hermitage.

Public Transportation

To reach Verena Gorge Hermitage using public transportation, start at the Solothurn train station. Take the bus number 11 toward Rüttenen. The journey takes about 15 minutes, and you will need to get off at the 'Rüttenen, Dorf' stop. From there, it's a scenic 20-minute walk to the hermitage. Follow the signs leading you to the Verena Gorge, which will guide you through the beautiful surroundings. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary.

Walking

If you prefer to walk from Solothurn, you can start at the Solothurn train station. The walk to Verena Gorge Hermitage is approximately 5 km and will take around 1 hour. Head south on Hauptgasse, cross the Aare River, and follow the path along the riverbank. Continue along the path until you reach Rüttenen. Look for signs indicating the direction to Verena Gorge.
