Car
If you're traveling by car from a location in the Swiss Plateau, head towards the A1 motorway and follow signs for Lausanne. Merge onto the A9 motorway towards Montreux. Continue on the A9 for about 30 kilometers. Take exit 16-Veytaux towards Chillon. Follow the signs to Chillon Castle, which is located at Av. de Chillon 21, 1820 Veytaux. Parking is available near the castle, and the cost is typically around CHF 1.50 per hour.
Train
For those using public transportation, take a train from your location in the Swiss Plateau to Montreux. Check the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) website or app for schedules. Once you arrive at Montreux station, exit the station and follow the signs for the lakeside promenade. From there, you can either walk to Chillon Castle, which is about a 30-minute walk along the scenic lakefront, or take bus number 201 or 204 from Montreux to the 'Chillon' stop. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes and costs around CHF 3.00.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, consider cycling to Chillon Castle. From Montreux, you can rent a bike and follow the scenic bike path along Lake Geneva. The ride from Montreux to Chillon is approximately 3 kilometers and takes about 15-20 minutes. Make sure to check the rental costs at local bike shops, which usually range from CHF 15 to CHF 30 for a half-day rental.
