Train and Bus
To reach Bachalpsee from Thun, start at Thun Train Station. Board a train heading to Interlaken Ost. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Interlaken Ost, transfer to a train heading to Grindelwald. This leg of the journey will take about 30 minutes as well. Upon arriving at Grindelwald train station, exit the station and look for the local bus stop. Take bus number 1 towards 'Grindelwald, First' and get off at the 'Grindelwald, First' stop. From there, follow the signs for the hiking trail leading to Bachalpsee. The hike will take around 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your pace, and the trail is well-marked.
Hiking
If you prefer to hike directly from Grindelwald, after arriving at the Grindelwald train station, head east towards the village center. Once you reach the main road, turn left and follow the signs towards 'Firstbahn' (the gondola lift). You can take the gondola up to the First mountain station. From there, follow the well-marked trail to Bachalpsee. The hike from First to Bachalpsee is relatively easy and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the lake.
