Getting There

  • Bus

    From the center of Thun, make your way to the Thun Bahnhof (train station). Look for bus line 21 towards Steffisburg. You can catch the bus from the bus stop right outside the train station. The ride takes approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the 'Wasserwehr' stop. Once you exit the bus, head towards Alleestrasse. The Schleuse is located a short walk from the bus stop. Follow the signs for Wasserwehr, and you will see the Schleuse on your left.

  • Walking

    If you prefer to walk from the center of Thun, start at the Thun Rathaus (Town Hall). Head towards the Aare River and walk along the riverbank towards the north. Continue walking until you reach the bridge that crosses over the Aare. Cross the bridge and keep following the path along the river until you reach the area of Steffisburg. Once you enter Steffisburg, follow the signs for Wasserwehr. After about a 30-40 minute walk, you will arrive at the Schleuse.

  • Bicycle

    If you rent a bicycle, start from the center of Thun and head towards the Aare River. Follow the bike path along the river northward, crossing the bridge into Steffisburg. Continue on the bike path until you reach the Wasserwehr area. The total distance is about 6 kilometers and should take around 20 minutes by bike. Upon arrival, follow the signs to the Schleuse.
