Getting there

Car

If you are driving, start from the center of Locarno. Head east on Via della Pace towards Via Cattori. Continue onto the SS 337 road and follow the signs for Vallemaggia. After approximately 20 kilometers, take a right onto the road leading to Lavizzara. Continue on this road for about 10 kilometers until you reach Val Sambuco. The Diga del Sambuco will be well-marked; you can park nearby.

Public Transportation

To reach Diga del Sambuco using public transportation, begin by taking a train from Lugano to Ponte Brolla. Upon arrival at Ponte Brolla, transfer to bus line 315 towards Lavizzara. The bus will take you through the beautiful valley, and you should disembark at Val Sambuco. From the bus stop, it's a short walk to the Diga del Sambuco, which is clearly visible.

Car

If you're coming from Bellinzona, take the A2 motorway towards Lugano. Exit at Lugano, and follow the signs for Vallemaggia on the SS 337. Continue as previously described, taking the right turn towards Lavizzara and following the road to Val Sambuco.

Public Transportation

From Bellinzona, take a train to Locarno, then switch to bus line 315 towards Lavizzara. This bus will take you directly to Val Sambuco. Once you get off the bus, walk towards the Diga del Sambuco which is a short distance away.
