Car
If you're arriving by car, head towards Iskanderkul Lake from Dushanbe. The journey takes approximately 3-4 hours. Follow the M34 highway heading north and look for signs directing you to Iskanderkul. Once you get to the village of Iskandarkul, you will find a parking area near the lake. Note that there may be a small parking fee of around 10 somoni.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
To reach Iskanderkul Lake using public transportation, take a minibus (marshrutka) from the Dushanbe Central Bus Station to the village of Iskandarkul. The fare is approximately 25-30 somoni and the journey takes around 4-5 hours. Once you arrive at the village, you can either walk to the lake (approximately 30 minutes) or hire a local taxi for a small fee.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Dushanbe to Iskanderkul Lake. This option is more expensive, typically costing around 300-400 somoni, but it allows for a more comfortable and faster trip. The taxi will take you directly to the lake's edge, where you can easily access the surrounding areas.
Hiking
Once at the lake, if you are interested in exploring further, there are hiking trails around Iskanderkul that lead to stunning viewpoints. Ensure you wear appropriate footwear and carry water. Some trails may require local guides, which can be arranged in the village.
