Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, head towards Nungwi Road (B4) from your location in Coastal Zone. Follow the road signs towards Nungwi. After about 30 minutes of driving, you will see a sign for Fukuchani. Turn off the main road onto Nungwi Road. Continue on this road for approximately 5 kilometers. You will reach Fukuchani, where you can park your car at the designated parking area near the Fukuchani Ruins & Cave.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Fukuchani Ruins & Cave by public transport, take a daladala (minibus) from your nearest bus station in Coastal Zone heading towards Nungwi. The fare is typically around 1,500 TZS. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at Fukuchani. The journey will take about 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Fukuchani, you will need to walk about 10 minutes down Nungwi Road to reach the ruins and cave.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Fukuchani, you can easily reach the Fukuchani Ruins & Cave on foot. Start from the main road (Nungwi Rd) and walk towards the coast. It’s approximately a 10-minute walk from the center of Fukuchani. Look for signs pointing towards the ruins as you walk.
