Getting There

  • Walking

    From Moshi town center, head east towards the Moshi Main Street. Once you reach the intersection with Uhuru Street, take a left. Continue walking straight until you reach the junction with the Moshi road towards the Tanzania-Kenya border. Look for signs that indicate the direction to Lake Chala. After about 4 kilometers, you will arrive at an area where you can catch a local daladala (minibus) heading towards Lake Chala. Board the daladala and enjoy the scenic ride.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Moshi. Start by cycling east on Moshi Main Street, then turn onto Uhuru Street. Continue cycling straight until you reach the junction with the main road to the Tanzania-Kenya border. Follow the road signs to Lake Chala. The ride is about 15 kilometers and will take you through beautiful landscapes, so enjoy the scenery as you pedal along.

  • Public Transport (Daladala)

    From the center of Moshi, walk to the bus station located near the Moshi Market. Look for a daladala that has 'Lake Chala' or 'Himo' written on it. These will take you towards the direction of Lake Chala. The fare is usually around 2000 TZS. Once you board, the ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Lake Chala entry point.
