Walking
From the center of Moshi, head towards the Moshi bus station (Moshi Terminal). Once you reach the bus station, look for a dala dala (shared minibus) heading to Materuni or Kilimanjaro. The fare is usually around 1,000 TZS. Inform the conductor that you are going to Materuni Waterfall. The ride takes about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic and stops. Get off at the Materuni village stop, which is well-signed. After disembarking, follow the signs to Materuni Waterfall, which is roughly a 30-minute walk from the village. The path is well-marked and you will enjoy scenic views along the way.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer to cycle, there are several bicycle rental shops in Moshi. Rent a bicycle and ride towards Materuni. The route will take you through beautiful countryside and local villages. Follow the main road towards the Kilimanjaro International Airport, then take a right towards Materuni village. The journey is approximately 12 km and will take around 1-1.5 hours depending on your speed. Once you reach Materuni, park your bicycle and continue on foot to the waterfall, which is about a 30-minute walk from the village.
