Bicycle
Start from the center of Mwanza, near the Mwanza City Park. Head south on Nkrumah Street towards the lake. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout at the corner of the lake. Take the first exit towards the Isamilo neighborhood. Follow the signs for Saanane National Park. The park is located on the small island in the lake, and there are ferry services available from the mainland. Look for the ferry terminal at Isamilo, which will take you directly to the park.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, start in the central area of Mwanza. Head towards the lakefront and follow the pathway along the shore. This route is scenic and will take you towards the Isamilo neighborhood. Once you reach the ferry terminal at Isamilo, you can board a ferry to Saanane National Park. Be sure to check the ferry schedule in advance.
Public Transport (Bus or Daladala)
From any point in Mwanza, find a local bus or 'daladala' that heads toward the Isamilo area. The fare is usually very affordable. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Isamilo ferry terminal. Once you arrive at the terminal, you can buy a ticket for the ferry that crosses to Saanane National Park. The ferry ride is short and offers great views of the surrounding area.
Motorbike Taxi (Boda Boda)
For a quicker option, consider taking a motorbike taxi, known as a 'boda boda.' You can easily find these taxis throughout Mwanza. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Isamilo ferry terminal for Saanane National Park. The ride is relatively inexpensive and will take you directly to the terminal where you can catch a ferry to the park.
