Getting There

• Walking

  Start your journey in the city center of Mwanza. Head south towards the shores of Lake Victoria. You can ask locals for directions to the lakefront, which is a popular area. Once you reach the lake, follow the shoreline to your right. As you walk, enjoy the scenic views of the lake. Continue walking for about 30 minutes until you reach the area near the docks. Bismarck Rock is located a short distance offshore. You can hire a local boat from the dock to take you to Bismarck Rock. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, and the boat ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Mwanza. Start from the city center and head towards the lakefront. Follow the same route as you would on foot, cycling along the lakeshore. There are designated paths in some areas, but you may need to navigate through local streets. Once you reach the docks, you will still need to hire a boat to take you to Bismarck Rock. Always ensure to wear a helmet and be cautious of traffic.

• Public Transport

  Take a local 'dala dala' (minibus) from Mwanza city center heading towards the lakefront area. The fare is quite affordable, and the journey should take around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Get off at the last stop near the lake. From there, walk towards the waterfront and follow the shoreline to your right until you reach the docks. You will need to hire a boat to reach Bismarck Rock from there.
