Getting There

Car Rental
From Ruaha National Park, start your journey by driving towards the town of Iringa. Take the A7 highway heading south. This route will take you through beautiful landscapes and you might see some wildlife along the way. After approximately 100 km, you will reach Iringa. Stop here to refuel your car and grab some supplies. Next, continue on the A7 for another 120 km until you reach the junction for the A19 highway. Turn left onto the A19 and drive for about 80 km until you reach the town of Morogoro. From Morogoro, take the A7 towards Dar es Salaam. After about 90 km, you will need to follow the signs towards Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve). The park entrance is well-marked and you should expect to pay an entry fee of around $30 USD per person.

Public Transportation
If you prefer using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Ruaha National Park to Iringa. Buses leave regularly from various points in the park to Iringa, typically costing around 10,000 TZS. Once in Iringa, you will need to catch a bus to Morogoro; this journey costs approximately 15,000 TZS. After arriving in Morogoro, look for a bus heading to Dar es Salaam. The fare for this leg of the trip is about 20,000 TZS. Once you arrive in Dar es Salaam, you can take a taxi or arrange for a shuttle service that goes directly to Nyerere National Park. The taxi fare from Dar es Salaam to the park entrance can range from $100 to $150 USD, depending on your negotiation skills.
