Car
From Ruaha National Park, head south on the A7 highway towards Iringa. Continue for approximately 90 kilometers until you reach the town of Njombe. This segment of the journey will take around 2 hours. Once in Njombe, follow signs to the B2 road heading west. After about 30 kilometers, turn left onto the road leading to Matamba. The entrance to Kitulo National Park is located just off this road. Make sure to check the condition of the roads, as some sections may be unpaved.
Public Transportation
Take a bus from Ruaha National Park to Njombe, which should cost around 10,000 TZS. The bus ride will take approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival in Njombe, look for a minibus heading towards Matamba. The fare for this leg is about 5,000 TZS, and the journey will take an additional hour. Once you reach Matamba, you may need to hire a local taxi or motorcycle taxi to get to the Kitulo National Park entrance, which should cost around 10,000 TZS.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from Njombe to Kitulo National Park. This option is more expensive, with fares typically ranging from 50,000 to 70,000 TZS. The journey will take about 1 hour. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your trip.
