If you are traveling by car, the most common route to Max Patch is to take Interstate 40. From Asheville, NC, take I-40 west for approximately 30 miles. Take exit 7 for US-276 S toward Waynesville. Continue on US-276 S for about 15 miles. Turn left onto NC-215 S and follow for 12 miles until you reach the intersection with Max Patch Road. Turn right onto Max Patch Road and follow it until you reach the Max Patch parking area. Note that the road can be narrow and steep in places, so drive cautiously. There is no fee for parking at Max Patch.
