After about 10 miles, turn onto Newfound Gap Road (US-441) and follow it for approximately 12 miles to the parking area for Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the Smokies, which is about 5 miles from Old Black. The last stretch requires a short hike from the Clingmans Dome parking area to Old Black, roughly 1 mile up the trail. Be aware that parking at Clingmans Dome may incur a small fee depending on the season.
