Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the Gatlinburg Welcome Center located at 1018 Parkway, Gatlinburg, TN 37738. From here, head southeast on the Parkway towards the traffic light at the intersection of the Parkway and Historic Nature Trail. Continue walking straight until you reach the traffic light at Historic Nature Trail. Turn right onto Historic Nature Trail and follow it. Once you reach the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, continue along the path. Look for the Cove Mountain Trailhead which will be your starting point to Cataract Falls. The falls are approximately 1.1 miles up the Cove Mountain Trail. The trail is well-marked and features gentle inclines, making it accessible for most hikers. Keep an eye out for the signs indicating the falls.

    If you prefer not to walk, you can take the Gatlinburg Trolley. Board the Blue Route trolley at any of the trolley stops along the Parkway.
