Walking
If you're starting from the Gatlinburg Strip (the main tourist area), head east on Parkway toward the traffic light at the intersection with Historic Nature Trail. Once you reach the traffic light, turn left onto Historic Nature Trail. Continue walking straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From there, follow the signs for Cove Mountain Trail. The trailhead is located just past the park entrance and will be on your right.

Public Transportation
From the Gatlinburg Welcome Center, take the Gatlinburg Trolley on the Blue Route. This route will take you toward the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Get off at the stop for the Cove Mountain Trailhead. Once you disembark, follow the signs to the trailhead, which is a short walk from the trolley stop. The trolley runs frequently, so you won't have to wait long.

Bicycling
If you prefer to bicycle, rent a bike from one of the local shops on the Parkway. Start on the Parkway heading east, then take a right onto Historic Nature Trail. Continue on Historic Nature Trail for approximately 0.5 miles until you reach the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance. After entering the park, look for the signs directing you to the Cove Mountain Trailhead. Note that biking on the trail itself is not permitted, but you can park your bike at the trailhead.
