Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by heading towards Townsend, TN. From the main entrance of Great Smoky Mountains National Park (using US-441), take Little River Road (TN-73) west towards Townsend. Continue on Little River Road for about 10 miles until you reach the junction with US-321. Turn left onto US-321 South. In approximately 3 miles, turn right onto Cavern Road. Tuckaleechee Caverns will be on your right at 825 Cavern Rd, Townsend, TN 37882.

• Public Transportation

  If you're using public transportation, you can take a bus from Gatlinburg to Townsend. Look for the Smoky Mountain Transit service, which operates routes in the area. Once you arrive in Townsend, you will need to use a taxi or rideshare service to get to Tuckaleechee Caverns, as it is approximately 3 miles from the nearest bus stop at the Townsend Visitor Center. Ensure you check the local transit schedules in advance as they may vary.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, cycling to Tuckaleechee Caverns is also an option. From the Townsend area, take Little River Road toward Townsend and then follow the same route as if you were driving. This route is scenic and relatively flat, making it enjoyable for cyclists. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules.

• Walking

  If you are in Townsend and prefer to walk, you can take Little River Road from the center of Townsend towards the caverns. The walk is about 3 miles and can take approximately an hour. Ensure you have comfortable walking shoes and check the weather conditions before you set out.
