Bald River Falls: A Natural Wonder in Tennessee

Getting There

• Car

  From Highland Rim, get onto TN-39 N and head northeast. Continue on TN-39 N for approximately 15 miles until you reach the junction with US-411 S. Turn left onto US-411 S and drive for about 10 miles. Then, take the exit onto TN-72 W toward Tellico Plains. After about 6 miles on TN-72, turn right onto River Road (this is a small road, so watch for the sign). Drive along River Road for approximately 5 miles, and you will arrive at Bald River Falls, which will be on your right. There is no entrance fee to visit the falls.

• Public Transportation

  If you are relying on public transportation, you may need to first take a bus to Tellico Plains. Look for local bus services that operate from major towns or cities near Highland Rim. Once in Tellico Plains, you can use a taxi or rideshare service to reach Bald River Falls. Taxis may charge around $15 to $25 for the trip from the town center to the falls, depending on the distance and time of day. Be sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your ride.

• Walking

  If you are already in Tellico Plains and prefer to walk, you can reach Bald River Falls by hiking from the town. It is approximately a 3-mile walk along River Road. Start from the center of Tellico Plains, head south on US-411, then take a left on TN-72 W. After about 0.5 miles, turn onto River Road and follow it for about 2.5 miles. The falls will be on your right. Be prepared for a moderate walk, and ensure you wear suitable footwear.
