Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start at Rock City and head south on Scenic Highway (US-41) for about 2 miles. Take a left onto TN-58 S and continue for approximately 3 miles. Once you reach the intersection with Highway 153, merge onto it heading east. Follow Highway 153 for about 5 miles until it merges with I-75 S. Take exit 1B to merge onto I-24 W towards Nashville. After about 7 miles, take exit 178 for Broad Street. Turn left onto Broad Street and then a right onto Market Street. Continue on Market Street until you reach the parking area near the Subterranean Waterfall.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Subterranean Waterfall via public transportation, you can take the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) bus. Board the bus route that goes towards downtown Chattanooga. Once you arrive downtown, transfer to the bus that heads towards the Northgate Mall area. Disembark at the stop closest to Broad Street and Market Street. From there, it is about a 20-minute walk to the Subterranean Waterfall. Make sure to check the CARTA schedule for bus times and any fare costs. Fares generally range from $1.50 to $2.00.

• Walking

  If you find yourself close to the Subterranean Waterfall and prefer to walk, start from the nearest bus stop on Market Street. Head north on Market Street, then turn right onto Broad Street. Continue until you reach the intersection with the road leading towards the waterfall. Follow the signs for Subterranean Waterfall, which will guide you through the final steps of your journey. The walk should take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on your pace.
