Getting There

• Public Bus

  If you're starting from the downtown area or near the University of Texas, you can catch Capital Metro bus route 1 or 7. For route 1, head to the nearest bus stop, typically located at a corner intersection. Board the bus heading towards 'The Domain' for route 1 or 'North Lamar' for route 7. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop named 'Congress Ave and 11th St'. From there, walk one block south on Congress Avenue, and you'll find the Texas Capitol at 1100 Congress Ave.

• Bicycle

  Austin has a bike-sharing program called B-Cycle. Locate a nearby B-Cycle station and rent a bike. From downtown, head south on Congress Avenue. The ride is approximately 10 minutes. You'll pass several shops and restaurants along the way. Once you reach the intersection of 11th St, the Capitol will be on your left at 1100 Congress Ave.

• Walking

  If you're staying in the downtown area, the Texas Capitol is within walking distance. Head towards Congress Avenue and walk north. The Capitol is located at 1100 Congress Ave, just a few blocks from the downtown area. It should take about 15-20 minutes to walk there, and you'll enjoy the views of the historic buildings along the way.
