If you're starting from downtown Brownsville, make your way to E 12th St. Head east on E 12th St toward E Washington St. Continue straight until you reach E Ringgold St. Turn left onto E Ringgold St and continue walking straight for about 10 blocks. The Gladys Porter Zoo will be on your right at 500 E Ringgold St. It should take you approximately 25-30 minutes to walk there.

If you're near the Brownsville Transit Center, you can catch the Metro Connect Route 1 bus. Board the bus heading towards the Mall del Norte. Get off at the stop closest to E Ringgold St (look for the stop at E Ringgold St and E 7th St). From there, walk east along E Ringgold St for about 5 minutes until you reach the zoo at 500 E Ringgold St.

If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art. Head east on E Adams St toward E 14th St. Turn right onto E 14th St and continue until you reach E Ringgold St. Turn left onto E Ringgold St and bike for about 1 mile.
