Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to the Texas Capitol from anywhere in Central Texas, take I-35 South towards Austin. Take exit 234B toward 15th St/6th St and keep right to merge onto E 15th St. Continue straight to Congress Ave. Turn left onto Congress Ave, and the Texas Capitol (1100 Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78701) will be on your left. Parking is available nearby but may incur costs, typically ranging from $5 to $20 depending on the location and duration.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach the Texas Capitol using public transportation, find the nearest bus stop for Capital Metro in your area. You can take routes 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, or 20, which all have stops near the Texas Capitol. Get off at the 'Congress at 11th' stop or 'Congress at 12th' stop. From there, walk north on Congress Ave for a couple of blocks to reach the Capitol. A single ride costs $1.25, and you can purchase a ticket on the bus or via the Capital Metro app.

  Although Austin does not have a light rail system directly to the Texas Capitol, if you are near the MetroRail station, you can take the MetroRail to the downtown station. From the station, it’s a short walk to the Texas Capitol.
