Car
If you're driving, ensure you are on Texas Highway 16. From Fredericksburg, head south on Highway 16 for approximately 17 miles. Look for signs directing you to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. After turning onto Ranch Road 965, continue for about 5 miles until you reach the park entrance. There is an entrance fee of $8 per person (ages 13 and up), payable upon arrival.
Public Transportation
Public transportation to Enchanted Rock is limited. You can take a Greyhound bus or a local shuttle service to Fredericksburg, Texas. Once in Fredericksburg, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Enchanted Rock, as there are no direct public transport routes. The distance from Fredericksburg to Enchanted Rock is about 17 miles, and the taxi fare may vary, so it's advisable to check with local services ahead of time. Additionally, ensure your return trip to Fredericksburg aligns with the bus schedule.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, cycling is an option. If you are in Fredericksburg, you can bike along Ranch Road 965 to Enchanted Rock. The ride is roughly 17 miles and will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Be sure to wear a helmet and carry plenty of water, as there are limited facilities along the route.
Walking/Hiking
Once you arrive at the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, there are several trails that lead to the summit of Enchanted Rock. The most popular trail is the Summit Trail, which is about 0.6 miles long and offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Be prepared for a steep climb and wear appropriate footwear.
