Getting There

• Walking

  From anywhere in the Museum District, head east toward Hermann Drive. If you're near the Houston Museum of Natural Science, exit the museum and turn left onto Binz Street. Continue walking until you reach Hermann Park. Once you arrive at Hermann Park, follow the path leading to the McGovern Centennial Gardens. Look for signs directing you to the gardens, which are located at 1500 Hermann Dr, Houston, TX 77004. The walk is approximately 10-15 minutes depending on your starting point.

• Public Transit (Bus)

  If you prefer to use public transportation, locate the nearest METRO bus stop. Routes 56 and 72 serve the Museum District area, with stops near major attractions. Board either bus and ride toward the Hermann Park area. Get off at the Hermann Park/Rice University stop. From there, walk east along Hermann Drive for about 5 minutes to reach McGovern Centennial Gardens at 1500 Hermann Dr. A one-way fare on METRO buses costs $1.25.

• Biking

  For those who prefer biking, consider renting a bike from a nearby bike-share program. Locate a bike station within the Museum District, rent a bike, and head towards Hermann Drive. Follow the bike lanes and park paths leading to McGovern Centennial Gardens. It’s a short ride of about 10 minutes from most locations in the Museum District. Remember to return your bike to a station upon arrival or when you leave the gardens.
