If you are traveling by car from the center of Piney Woods, head southwest on US-75 S. Continue for approximately 16 miles until you reach the exit for TX-150 W. Merge onto TX-150 W and follow it for about 20 miles. Take the exit for FM 1375 W towards New Waverly. After about 4 miles, you will see the entrance to Sam Houston National Forest on your left at 394 FM 1375 West, New Waverly, TX 77358. There is no entrance fee for the forest itself, but be prepared for potential parking fees at certain recreational areas.
