Start at the San Angelo Transit System bus stop near your location in downtown San Angelo. Board the bus heading towards the San Angelo State Park. The bus will take you through the city, and you will have to transfer at the Central Transit Station. From there, take the bus that goes towards Lake Nasworthy. Inform the driver that you wish to get off at the nearest stop to San Angelo State Park. Once you arrive, walk along FM 2288 towards the park entrance, which is about a 10-minute walk.

If you're comfortable riding a bike, rent one from a local bike rental service in San Angelo. Head towards the South Chadbourne Street and follow it until you reach the intersection with FM 2288. Turn left onto FM 2288, which will take you directly to San Angelo State Park. The ride is approximately 6 miles and will take about 30 minutes, depending on your pace. Be cautious as this road may have vehicular traffic.
