Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Koh Bon.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Phang Nga or Khao Lak. Head towards Thai Mueang District via Highway 4. Follow the signs towards Thai Mueang Beach. Once you reach the beach area, park your car in a designated parking area. Note that there may be a parking fee of around 20-50 THB. From the beach, you will need to hire a longtail boat to reach Koh Bon. The boat ride typically costs between 1,500 to 3,000 THB depending on the negotiation and the number of passengers.
Public Transport
For those using public transportation, take a bus or minivan from Phuket or Krabi to Thai Mueang. Buses leave regularly from the bus terminals in both locations. The fare is usually around 200-300 THB. Once you arrive at Thai Mueang, you can take a local tuk-tuk or songthaew to reach Thai Mueang Beach. The fare for this short ride is about 50-100 THB. At the beach, hire a longtail boat to Koh Bon, which will cost you between 1,500 to 3,000 THB for the trip.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from your location in Andaman Coast to Koh Bon. This option is more expensive, with fares typically ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 THB depending on your starting point. The taxi will take you directly to Thai Mueang Beach, where you will need to hire a longtail boat for the final leg of your journey to Koh Bon.
Boat Tour
Another option is to join a boat tour that includes Koh Bon as one of the destinations. These tours often depart from popular spots such as Khao Lak or Phuket. The cost of these tours can range from 2,000 to 4,500 THB per person, depending on the inclusions such as meals, snorkeling gear, and other activities. Ensure to book in advance, especially during the high tourist season.
