Songthaew
From Chiang Rai city center, head to the main bus station (Chao Fa Road). Look for a Songthaew (shared taxi) heading towards Mae Salong. The fare is usually around 50-100 THB. Once you board, inform the driver that you want to go to Doi Mae Salong. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. The driver will drop you off in Mae Salong Nok area, from where you can walk to the viewpoint.
Motorbike Taxi
You can hire a motorbike taxi from anywhere in Chiang Rai. Simply ask a driver to take you to Doi Mae Salong. Be sure to negotiate the fare before starting the trip; it might cost around 300-500 THB depending on your negotiation skills. The ride will take about 1.5 hours, and the driver will take you directly to the main viewpoint.
Public Bus
Go to the bus terminal in Chiang Rai (near the Night Bazaar) and catch a bus heading to Mae Fa Luang District. The fare is inexpensive, generally around 30-50 THB. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at Mae Salong. The bus ride will take approximately 2 hours. Once you arrive, you will need to walk or take a short Songthaew ride to reach the Doi Mae Salong viewpoint.
