Songthaew
From Chumphon town center, locate a local songthaew (shared taxi) stop. You can find these near the Chumphon Bus Station or at various points throughout the town. Board a songthaew heading towards Pathio District. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to Ao Bo Mao Bay. The journey should take about 30-40 minutes, and it typically costs around 30-50 THB per person. Be sure to tell the driver your destination to ensure you get off at the right place.
Motorbike Taxi
If you prefer a quicker and more direct option, you can hire a motorbike taxi from Chumphon town. Look for motorbike taxi stands or flag one down on the street. Tell the driver you want to go to Ao Bo Mao Bay in Chum Kho. This option is faster and should take around 20-30 minutes, costing approximately 100-150 THB depending on your negotiation skills.
Bicycle Rental
For the more adventurous traveler, consider renting a bicycle in Chumphon. Many guesthouses and shops offer rentals. Once you have your bicycle, head towards the Pathio District. You will follow Route 41 (the main highway) southbound. Watch for signs marking the way to Ao Bo Mao Bay. The ride is scenic but be prepared for traffic and some inclines. It should take about 1 to 1.5 hours to reach Ao Bo Mao Bay.
Walking
If you are staying close to Ao Bo Mao Bay or want to enjoy the local scenery, you can walk. Start from your location in Chumphon and head towards the coast.
