From the center of Chiang Mai, head to the nearest Songthaew stop, which is usually near the Tha Phae Gate. Look for a red truck, which is the Songthaew. Ask the driver to take you to Mae Rim. The fare should be around 40-60 THB per person. Once you reach Mae Rim, you can ask the driver to drop you off at Huai Tueng Thao, or get off at a nearby landmark and walk.

Find a Tuk Tuk near your current location, which you can usually spot around tourist areas. Negotiate the fare to Huai Tueng Thao; it should cost about 200-300 THB depending on your starting point. The driver will take you directly to the lake. Ensure to confirm the price before getting in.

Walking to Huai Tueng Thao from the center of Chiang Mai is not practical due to the distance (approximately 15 km). However, if you are already in Mae Rim, find your way to Route 107 heading north. Follow this road for about 5 kilometers, and you will see signs for Huai Tueng Thao on your left.
