Getting there

Songthaew

From the Old City of Chiang Mai, walk to the nearest Songthaew (red truck) station. You can find them around Thapae Gate. Hop on a Songthaew and ask the driver to take you to 'Samoeng'. The fare should be around 40-60 THB. The Songthaew will take you along the main road out of the city, and you will pass through scenic areas. Once you reach the Samoeng area, ask the driver to drop you off at 'Mae Sap Cave'. It is located along the Highway 1348, and the driver should know the location.

Tuk-tuk

To get to Mae Sap Cave from the Old City, you can hire a tuk-tuk. Negotiate a price with the driver before starting your journey; it should be around 300-400 THB for a round trip. Tell the driver you want to go to 'Mae Sap Cave' in Samoeng District. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes, and the driver will wait for you while you explore the cave.

Motorbike Taxi

You can also opt for a motorbike taxi for a more adventurous route. Find a motorbike taxi near your location in the Old City. The fare to Mae Sap Cave will typically range from 150-250 THB one way. Inform the driver to take you to 'Mae Sap Cave' in the Samoeng District. The journey will be quicker than a Songthaew, taking around 25-30 minutes.

Bicycle

For the more adventurous and physically active tourists, renting a bicycle is a great option. You can rent a bicycle from various shops in the Old City for about 50-100 THB per day. Head towards the Chiang Mai Zoo and follow the road signs to Samoeng. The ride will take you through beautiful mountainous terrain and may take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to bring water and wear sunscreen!
