If you are driving to Wat Chiang Rai, start by heading east from Chiang Rai city center. Take Route 1 (also known as Phaholyothin Road) north toward Lampang. After about 40 kilometers, take the exit toward Route 118. Continue on Route 118 for approximately 30 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Wat Chiang Rai, which is located at 427 Tipchang Rd, Suan Dok, Mueang Lampang District, Lampang 52100. There is parking available at the temple.

To reach Wat Chiang Rai by public transportation, first, take a bus from Chiang Rai to Lampang. Buses depart regularly from the Chiang Rai Bus Terminal and the journey takes about 2-3 hours, costing approximately 150-200 THB. Once you arrive at the Lampang Bus Terminal, you can take a local songthaew (a shared taxi) to Wat Chiang Rai. The songthaew fare should be around 30-50 THB, and it will take about 15 minutes to reach the temple.
