Travel Guide to Pai Canyon

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Chiang Mai to Pai Canyon, take Route 1095 from Chiang Mai to Pai. The journey typically takes around 3-4 hours and offers stunning views of the mountains. Once you arrive in Pai, continue towards the Mae Hi area. Follow the signs to Pai Canyon, which is approximately 8 km from Pai town center. You can park at the designated parking area near the canyon entrance. Note that some rental companies may require you to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas.

• Public Transportation (Minibus)

  From Chiang Mai, you can take a minibus to Pai. Buses leave from the Arcade Bus Station in Chiang Mai and take about 3-4 hours to reach Pai. The fare is typically around 150-200 THB. Once in Pai, you can hire a local songthaew (a shared taxi) to take you to Pai Canyon for about 100-200 THB per person, depending on the number of passengers. The songthaew will drop you off at the canyon entrance.

• Motorbike Rental

  For the more adventurous, renting a motorbike in Pai is a popular option. Many rental shops are available in town, with rates around 100-300 THB per day. Ride along Route 1095 towards Pai Canyon, which is about 8 km from the town center. Be cautious of the winding roads and wear a helmet. Parking is available at the canyon entrance.

• Walking or Biking from Pai

  If you prefer a more active route, you can walk or bike to Pai Canyon from the town center. The distance is approximately 8 km, which may take about 1.5-2 hours on foot or 30-45 minutes by bike. You can rent a bicycle in Pai for around 50-150 THB per day. Follow the main road, and look for signs directing you to Pai Canyon. This route allows you to enjoy the scenic views along the way.
