Car
Start your journey from any point in Jarra West. Head towards the main road (Kairaba Avenue) and follow the signs towards Serrekunda. Once you reach the junction near the Senegambia Strip, turn left onto the coastal road. Continue straight until you see the entrance to Bijilo Monkey Park on your right, just after passing the turn-off for the Senegambia Beach area. There is usually parking available at the park entrance. Note that there may be an entrance fee to access the park.
Public Transportation (Bush Taxi)
From Jarra West, locate the nearest bush taxi stand. Bush taxis are shared minivans that operate on set routes. Board a bush taxi heading towards Serrekunda. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Bijilo Monkey Park. The fare is usually modest, around D10 to D20 (Gambian Dalasi), depending on your starting point. Once you arrive at the designated drop-off point, walk back along the road for about 5 minutes until you see the park entrance on your left.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, and your starting point in Jarra West is not too far from Bijilo Monkey Park, head towards the main road leading to Serrekunda. From there, you can ask locals for the best route to the park. It’s about a 30-45 minute walk depending on your pace. Ensure to carry water and wear comfortable shoes, as the path can be uneven in places.
