Getting There

  • Car

    From any location in Kanifing, head northwest towards the main road. Follow signs for Brikama Highway. Continue on Brikama Highway for about 12 km. Look for the entrance to Abuko Nature Reserve on your left. There is a small sign; park your car in the designated area. Note that there may be a small entrance fee, which is typically around D20 (Gambian Dalasi) per person.

  • Public Transportation (Mini Bus)

    To get to Abuko Nature Reserve by public transport, find a nearby mini bus (often referred to as 'Gele-Gele') heading towards Brikama. Board the bus and inform the driver you want to go to Abuko. This will cost you approximately D10. The bus will drop you off near the entrance to the reserve. From there, it is a short walk to the entrance. Be prepared to pay a small entrance fee of around D20.

  • Taxi

    If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Abuko Nature Reserve. The fare should be around D200-D300 depending on your starting point in Kanifing. The taxi will take you directly to the entrance of the reserve. Don't forget to confirm the fare before getting in.
