Car
From any location in the Lower River Region, head towards the A1 highway, which runs through the region. If you are in the town of Banjul, take the A1 road east. Continue on the A1 for approximately 40 kilometers until you reach the junction for the town of Brikama. Take the exit towards Brikama and continue straight. Follow the signs to Bafuloto. Once in Bafuloto, use a GPS or map application to navigate to the coordinates 13.310556, -16.616111 (896M+6HC, Bafuloto). The last stretch may involve smaller roads, so keep an eye on local signage. Parking is usually available near the entrance to Makasutu.
Public Transportation (Bush Taxi)
To take public transportation, find a bush taxi heading towards Brikama from your current location in the Lower River Region. Bush taxis are often stationed at major towns or bus stops. Ask the driver to drop you off at Brikama. From Brikama, you will need to catch another bush taxi heading to Bafuloto. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they will stop near the coordinates 896M+6HC, Bafuloto (13.310556, -16.616111). It's advisable to have a local guide or contact a lodge for confirmation on the best drop-off point, as some taxis may not go directly to the park entrance.
Motorbike Taxi (Banjul to Bafuloto)
If you prefer a quicker and more direct route, consider using a motorbike taxi (also known as 'boda boda'). From Banjul or any nearby area, negotiate a fare with a motorbike taxi driver to take you directly to Makasutu. Make sure to provide them with the coordinates 896M+6HC, Bafuloto (13.310556, -16.616111) for accurate navigation. This option is likely to be more expensive than bush taxis, but it provides a faster and more personalized journey.
