Walking
From the center of Serrekunda, head towards the main road, Kairaba Avenue. Walk west along Kairaba Avenue until you reach the junction with the Bertil Harding Highway (also known as the 'Senegambia Strip'). Cross the highway carefully and continue walking straight. After about 2 kilometers, look for a sign directing you towards Bafuloto. This area is known for its local transport services, so you may find shared taxis (also called 'Gele-Geles') heading towards Bafuloto. Get on one of these shared taxis and inform the driver that you want to go to Makasutu National Park. The ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at the entrance of Makasutu, you can explore the park and enjoy the natural beauty.
Public Transport (Bicycle)
If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from any local shop in Serrekunda. Start your journey by heading towards Kairaba Avenue, then proceed west. After reaching the Bertil Harding Highway, continue straight. Look for signs to Bafuloto. Riding a bicycle will give you the freedom to stop and enjoy the scenery along the way. It will take about 30-40 minutes to reach the area near Makasutu. Once you arrive, you may have to walk a little to find the entrance to the park.
Public Transport (Shared Taxi)
From any point in Serrekunda, head to the nearest shared taxi stop. These are usually found along the main roads. Look for a taxi going towards Bafuloto. You can ask locals for assistance if needed. Once you board the taxi, tell the driver you want to go to Makasutu National Park. The taxi ride will take around 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. After getting dropped off, follow any signs to the park entrance, which should be within walking distance from where the taxi stops.
