Car
If you are driving from any location within Upper Saloum, head towards the town of Banjul. From Banjul, take the road towards the ferry terminal for Barra. The drive should take about 2-3 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Barra, you will need to take a ferry to the opposite side of the river. The ferry ride costs approximately 25 Dalasi per person. Upon arrival on the other side, continue driving towards the village of Kuntaur. From Kuntaur, follow signs for Baboon Island. You may need to park your car near the water's edge and hire a local boat to take you to Baboon Island, which may cost around 200-500 Dalasi depending on the negotiation.
Public Transportation
To reach Baboon Island using public transport, start by taking a 'Gele-Gele' (shared taxi) from your location in Upper Saloum to Banjul. The fare should be around 50 Dalasi. Once in Banjul, ask for directions to the ferry terminal for Barra. Board the ferry; the fare is approximately 25 Dalasi. After crossing the river, take another 'Gele-Gele' or local bus to Kuntaur. From Kuntaur, you will need to find a local boat to take you to Baboon Island, which might cost between 200-500 Dalasi. Make sure to confirm the return time for the boat ride.
