Walking
From the center of Aileu, head south on Avenida de Portugal towards the main market. Continue walking south until you reach the junction with Rua de Ponta Leste. Turn left onto Rua de Ponta Leste and walk for about 15 minutes until you reach the end of the road. You will find a footpath leading into the forest on your right. Follow this footpath for approximately 30 minutes, which will take you through some beautiful scenery. Keep an eye out for the signs pointing towards Lou-Huno Waterfall, as they are sporadic but helpful. After following the footpath, you will arrive at Lou-Huno Waterfall, which is a short walk from the main trail.
Hiking
If you're feeling adventurous, you can start your journey from the Aileu Cultural Center. Begin your hike by following the marked trails that lead into the hills. This route is more challenging but offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. After about 1 hour of hiking, you will reach a viewpoint where you can rest. From there, continue following the trail, keeping an eye out for the directional signs towards Lou-Huno Waterfall. The total hiking time will be around 2 hours, so be prepared with water and snacks. Once you descend into the valley, you'll find the waterfall area. Enjoy the natural beauty and take a dip if you're up for it!
