From the center of Nuku'alofa, head towards the waterfront. Walk along the main road (Vuna Road) until you reach the Talamahu Market. Continue past the market until you reach the intersection with Taufa'ahau Road. Turn left onto Taufa'ahau Road and walk straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the exit towards Houma. Follow the road signs towards Houma. Continue walking for approximately 5 kilometers; you will pass local villages and scenic views along the way. As you approach Houma, look for signs directing you to Mapu'a Vaea Blowholes. Once you arrive in Houma, follow the signs to the blowholes, which are located at RMGR+8M4. The walk will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, so wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Nuku'alofa. Begin your journey on Vuna Road heading towards the Talamahu Market. After passing the market, turn left onto Taufa'ahau Road and head towards the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the exit towards Houma. The ride will be approximately 5 kilometers. Enjoy the ride while taking in the local scenery. When you arrive in Houma, follow the signs to Mapu'a Vaea Blowholes, located at RMGR+8M4. The bicycle ride should take around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your pace.
