Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards the town of Teboursouk. From the capital, Tunis, take the A1 motorway towards Bizerte. After about 60 kilometers, take the exit towards Teboursouk. Follow the signs to Dougga, which is approximately 15 kilometers from the town center. The ruins are well-marked, and you will find parking available near the entrance. Be aware that there may be a small parking fee.
Public Transportation
To reach Dougga using public transportation, first take a train from Tunis to the city of Béjà. The train departs from Tunis Gare de la Ville and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once in Béjà, you can take a taxi or a shared taxi (louage) to Teboursouk. This ride should take around 30 minutes. Once in Teboursouk, you can find local transport options or hire a taxi to take you the final 15 kilometers to the Dougga archaeological site. Ensure you agree on the fare before starting your journey.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Tunis directly to Dougga. This option can be more expensive, with fares likely ranging from 80 to 100 Tunisian Dinars, depending on negotiation and traffic. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours, and the taxi will take you straight to the entrance of the site, making it a convenient option for groups.
