Public Bus
From Monastir, head to the main bus station located near Avenue Habib Bourguiba. Look for the bus heading towards Mahdia; they are usually marked with their destination. The bus ride will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Once you arrive in Mahdia, disembark at the central bus stop. From there, Burj el Kabir is about a 10-minute walk. Head towards the coast, following the road that runs parallel to the beach, until you see the iconic tower.
Taxi
You can easily find a taxi in Monastir, especially around popular areas like the marina or hotel zones. Ask the driver to take you to Mahdia and specify Burj el Kabir as your destination. The ride should take around 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Mahdia, you can ask the driver to drop you off near the coast, and Burj el Kabir will be within walking distance.
Walking
If you are already in Mahdia, you can walk to Burj el Kabir from the town center. Start at the main square, Place du 7 Novembre, and head towards the sea. Follow the coastal road, Rue de la Republique, which leads directly to Burj el Kabir. It’s a scenic walk and should take about 20-30 minutes.
