Car
If you're traveling by car, head south from the city center of Tunis. Take the A1 highway towards Sousse, then merge onto the A3 towards Gafsa. Continue on the A3 for approximately 250 km until you reach the exit for Chebika. Follow the signs to Chebika Oasis, which is about 15 km off the main road. The drive offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Make sure to have a GPS or a map handy since some parts can be tricky.
Public Transportation
To reach Chebika Oasis using public transportation, first take a train from Tunis to Gafsa. The train ride takes about 3-4 hours and costs approximately 8-10 TND. Once you arrive in Gafsa, you can catch a local taxi or a shared minibus (usually called a 'louage') to Chebika. The taxi ride will cost around 30-40 TND and takes about 30 minutes. If you opt for a louage, it might be slightly cheaper but could take longer depending on the number of passengers it picks up.
Hiking/Walking
For the adventurous, after reaching the nearby village of Chebika by car or public transportation, you can hike to the oasis itself. The hike is about 2 km and is moderately challenging, taking roughly 30-45 minutes. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry water. The path leads you through beautiful landscapes and gives you a unique perspective of the surrounding area.
