Getting There

• Train

  Start at the Tunis train station (Gare de Tunis). Purchase a ticket for the suburban train line that goes to Carthage. The train to Carthage usually departs every 30 minutes. Once on the train, enjoy the scenic views as you travel for about 20 minutes. Get off at the Carthage station (Gare de Carthage). Upon exiting the station, follow the signs directing you towards the Carthage National Museum, which is approximately a 15-minute walk uphill. You will pass through the beautiful streets of Carthage, and you can ask locals for directions if needed.

• Bus

  From the city center of Tunis, head to the main bus station (Gare Routière). Look for buses heading towards Carthage; Bus No. 100 or 101 frequently runs this route. The bus journey takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the stop labeled 'Carthage.' From the bus stop, you can walk to Carthage National Museum, which is roughly a 10-minute walk uphill. Follow the signs towards the museum, and enjoy the sights along the way.

• Walking

  If you are starting from the city center, you can walk to the museum. Head towards Avenue Habib Bourguiba and continue straight until you reach the Belvedere Park. From there, follow the signs to Carthage. The total distance is about 10 km, and it will take approximately 2 hours to walk. It’s a scenic route with opportunities to enjoy the local culture and architecture. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated!

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Tunis. Simply tell the driver you want to go to the Carthage National Museum. The ride should take about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to negotiate the fare or ask for the meter to be used. Once you arrive, you will be right at the entrance to the museum.
