Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. Head south on the A-1 highway towards the Köpetdag Mountains. After approximately 40 kilometers, take the exit towards the mountain range. Continue driving on the local roads into the mountains, following signs toward the Bugor Ak-Tepe area. The coordinates for Bugor Ak-Tepe are approximately 37.0994° N latitude and 60.0047° E longitude. Use a GPS navigation system to guide you to these exact coordinates for the best route. Be prepared for some unpaved roads as you approach the peak.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Ashgabat to the nearest town near the Köpetdag Mountains, which is called Geokdepe. Buses run regularly throughout the day and the fare is quite affordable, usually around 10-15 TMT (Turkmen Manat). Once you arrive in Geokdepe, you will need to arrange a taxi to take you to Bugor Ak-Tepe. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around 30-50 TMT depending on your negotiation skills and the exact distance.
Hiking
If you are adventurous and prefer to hike, you can start your trek from a nearby base camp or parking area after reaching Geokdepe. From there, follow the marked trails that lead towards Bugor Ak-Tepe. The hike may take several hours depending on your fitness level, so be sure to bring sufficient water, snacks, and a map, or use a GPS-enabled device to navigate.
