Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest town, which is Köýtendag. Head northeast on the main road from Köýtendag and follow the signs towards the Köýtendag State Nature Reserve. Approximately 20 km from Köýtendag, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork which leads to the entrance of the nature reserve. After entering the reserve, continue for an additional 10 km, where you will find a parking area near the trailhead that leads to Gora Duzen-Kry. Ensure you have a map or GPS as the roads can be unmarked.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, take a shared taxi or minibus from Köýtendag to the entrance of Köýtendag State Nature Reserve. The fare for this journey is typically around 5-10 Turkmenistani Manat. Once you arrive at the entrance, you may need to hire a local guide or arrange for a 4x4 vehicle to take you further into the reserve, as public transportation does not reach the peak directly. This could cost an additional 50-100 Manat, depending on your negotiation skills and the distance to Gora Duzen-Kry.

• Hiking

  After reaching the parking area or being dropped off at the trailhead, you will need to hike the remaining distance to Gora Duzen-Kry. The trail is well-marked and typically takes about 2-3 hours to reach the summit. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking footwear and carry sufficient water and snacks, as amenities are not available along the trail.
