Private Car
If you are traveling by a private car from Gulu, head south on the Gulu-Kampala highway (A1). After approximately 310 kilometers, you will reach the town of Kayabwe, where the Uganda Equator is located. Look for signs indicating the Equator as you approach. There is a notable landmark at X2VP+M6, Plot 24 Kikutuzi-Mpigi District. Parking is available on-site, but be aware of any additional fees. It's advisable to check your vehicle's fuel level as there are limited fuel stations along the route.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach the Uganda Equator by bus from Gulu, start at the Gulu Bus Terminal and take a bus heading to Kampala. The journey takes approximately 7-8 hours. Once you arrive at the Kampala Bus Terminal, transfer to a taxi or a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to get to Kayabwe. The fare for the taxi should be around UGX 20,000-30,000. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Uganda Equator. The total cost for this option will include the bus fare (approximately UGX 30,000-50,000) plus the taxi fare.
Motorcycle Taxi (Boda-boda)
If you're already in the vicinity of Kampala, you can take a boda-boda directly to the Uganda Equator. Simply find a boda-boda stand and negotiate the fare, which should be around UGX 20,000-30,000. Make sure to tell the driver your destination clearly. This is a fast and convenient option, but ensure you wear a helmet for safety.
Shared Taxi
From Gulu, you can also opt for a shared taxi to Kampala. Head to the Gulu Taxi Park and find a taxi headed to Kampala. The journey takes about 6-7 hours, and the fare typically ranges from UGX 25,000-40,000. Upon arrival at the Kampala Taxi Park, you can take a local taxi or boda-boda to Kayabwe, which should cost around UGX 20,000-30,000.
