Car
If you are driving from any location in Ankole, head towards the Kabale-Mbarara road (also known as the Rukungiri-Mbarara road). Continue driving until you reach the intersection with the Masaka road. Turn onto the Masaka road and keep following the signs towards Kayabwe. The Uganda Equator is located in Kayabwe, approximately 12 kilometers from the turn-off. Look for the signs directing you to the Equator, and you will find it on the left side of the road at X2VP+M6, Plot 24 Kikutuzi-Mpigi District.
Public Transportation (Matatu)
To reach the Uganda Equator via public transport, find a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Masaka from your location in Ankole. Make sure to confirm that the matatu stops in Kayabwe. The journey may take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Kayabwe, ask the driver or locals for directions to the Uganda Equator, which is a well-known landmark. It is a short walk from the matatu stage to the Equator site.
Public Transportation (Boda Boda)
If you are already in Kayabwe, you can hire a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the Uganda Equator. Simply negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The ride should take about 5-10 minutes, and the cost is generally around 1,000 to 3,000 UGX, depending on your negotiation skills and distance.
